LA BELLE EPOQUE, SOFITEL HEATHROW

Normally when you stop to eat at an airport, it’s to grab a rushed bite before you dash to check in. However, Sofitel Heathrow has long since changed the dining experience by providing a delicious culinary extravaganza in the name of La Belle Epoque

In Here dining is a world class experience before you fly, an escape from the hustle and bustle of busy Heathrow without having to Leave the Airport.

The delightfully scrumptious cuisine is an Asian and French fusion within the impressive La Belle Époque.

The decor is nothing short of fabulous with high ceilings and elegant booths plus exquisite spaces.

The staff are friendly and knowlegeable about the food and wines on offer. The Ala Carte menu was impressive but I purposely chose the tasting menu (Menu Degustation) which had an international wine list paired with every course. Very reasonably priced at £64 per person.

Roasted Breast of Bresse Pigeon, foie gras, blood orange pistachio

Butter poached gigha Halibut, Brown crab emulsion, Parmesan gnocchi & seafood bisque

Every meal was exceptional, and it was hard to pick a favourite…

the Cornish Lamb cutlet was succulent & well paired with a rich Malbec Argentinian Red wine.

It was easy to forget I was in one of the world’s busiest airports, the ambience, sophistication plus high quality service easily translate to a 5 star experience.

Special recognition goes to the Restaurant & Bar Manager Mr. Jocelyn D’Silva. His passion for the restaurant and the level of customer service was excellent. His team were really attentive with attention to detail. They explained all the courses with such knowledge and recommended the best pairings.

The Executive Chef Carl Stockenstrom has managed to excel in every dish by creating a culinary Masterpiece.

A Little Background/History

In France, the Belle Époque was the “golden age”, between 1871 and the outbreak of the First World War, and it seems fairly fitting that what proved to be a golden restaurant has taken its name from such a period. La Belle Époque, set in Sofitel at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, serves up French dishes made with an expertly delicate yet tasteful approach intertwined with soft Asian undertones. It has earned 3 AA Rosettes: a coveted culinary accolade.
