HILTON HELSINKI STRAND ~ Review 2017

The Hilton Helsinki Strand

The Hilton Helsinki Strand is a Nordic extension of the famous Hilton Brand in Helsinki, Finland. Conveniently located on the east of the city, it is set on the Baltic waterfront with lovely sea views and within easy reach of the city centre. With easy access to tram and bus stops plus the Metro station really close to the Hakaniemi square with its market hall. Historical sites such as the Senate Square are a 15-minute walk away.

Hotel Facilities

The Hilton Helsinki Strand has the perfect Leisure and Business facilities, with a top floor Sauna, Pool plus a Gym for Leisure and 9 meetings rooms for up to 280 people for Business.

Food and drinks ~ Hilton Helsinki Strand has a beautiful restaurant with Nordic decor called BRO which serves a well-rounded cosmopolitan menu with Nordic highlights (BRO lunch menu and  BRO restaurant dinner menu) and a fully equipped cocktail bar for the perfect drink.

The hotel has a total of 190 spacious guest rooms with executive rooms & suites.

My Experience ~The Room

I arrived at the Hilton Helsinki Strand in time for my 2:00pm Check-in. The hotel was not as busy as I expected for a Friday afternoon (Then again it was November and probably not peak season). The Reception staff was efficient and cordial but there was no concierge to help with luggage which was slightly disappointing. After handing in my passport and all the basic check in requirements I was ready to take my luggage to my room and kick my high heels off.

Access to my room was via an impressive set of lifts with a view of the à la carte restaurant, BRO (Bridge) which is located on the ground floor in the atrium.

Upon entry to the room there was a large welcome sign with my name on the LCD flat screen TV.

My room was bright modern and spacious with a comfortable bed.  I had a great waterside view from the large windows (I would definitely recommend a room with a sea view instead of the courtyard view). The room also had a lovely mini chaise longue which I gladly relaxed on.

There’s fast reliable internet access/wifi , a desk and chair for any work needs but after my flight and airport transfer I was in the mood for a long bath and a glass of sparkly from the well-stocked minibar. The bathroom was perfectly spacious and clean with large well lit mirrors and Peter Roth bath products. After a relaxing bath I found a closet with bath robes and slippers. The room has every accessory you need from ironing boards to perfect lighting and a plush bed.

Make your trip extra Special
Charter a luxury cruise boat for Baltic excursions from the hotel quay.
Upgrade to a suite or executive room for some more space and additional perks (guests in the 48 Executive Floor rooms enjoy an Executive Lounge where they can enjoy a lovely breakfast spread)

Would recommend to:
Smart Businessman/woman looking for an effective, central, comfortable Hotel.
It is not the perfect holiday getaway hotel, don’t get me wrong, it is spacious but almost clinical and lacks that special charm, warmth and ‘je ne se quoi’ that would make it that more luxurious.

Famous Faces who stayed here:
None other than the POTUS himself Donald Trump and Pink Floyd to name a few.

Would recommend to:

Anyone in town for business looking for an effective central comfortable Hotel with modern amenities/ facilities.

DC BEST HOTEL GUIDE Score = 4 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Personally I feel it is devoid of charm and warmth, not my idea of a perfect relaxing luxurious getaway hotel but by all means definitely an effective all round 4 star Hotel to suit any Business needs.
